Strengthening Our Commitment to Safety Through Praesidium Accreditation
At the YMCA of Metropolitan Denver, creating safe, welcoming spaces for every child, family and community member is at the heart of everything we do. That’s why we are proud to share that we are currently engaged in an accreditation process with Praesidium, a national leader in abuse prevention that partners with organizations like the Y to help create safer environments for children and vulnerable populations.
This accreditation process is a comprehensive review of our policies, procedures and practices, helping ensure we continue to uphold the highest standards of safety and care across our organization. Through this work, we are strengthening systems, reinforcing best practices and building on the culture of safety that already exists throughout our YMCA community.
Over the coming weeks, staff and volunteers, members and participants will begin to see more information related to this initiative, including updates, resources and opportunities to learn more about the accreditation process and what it means for our day-to-day involvement at the Y.
What to Expect
As part of the Praesidium accreditation process, you can expect:
Updates to our organization-wide Code of Conduct
Revisions and enhancements to the Parent Handbooks
Additional guidance around policies, procedures and reporting practices
Training opportunities focused on abuse prevention and safety best practices
Practical tools and everyday tips to help apply these standards in daily interactions and programs
Ongoing communications with members and participants, providing guidance on keeping the children in their lives safe.
