It was center court for our young athletes at the December 16, 2023 game between Colorado Christian University (CCU) and University of Colorado Colorado Springs. To mark the end of the YMCA’s Fall II Basketball season, our athletes and families were invited to the collegiate basketball game and enjoyed a special opportunity to meet these rising college stars, receive signed posters and play a half-time game! Our young basketball players showcased their skills, which they worked at all season, before a cheering crowd of a few hundred fans.
Post-game, our players joined the CCU women’s team in the media room providing them with a chance to interact one-on-one with these future role models. Altogether, it was a memorable experience meant to inspire both girls and boys to continue to pursue their skills and character development in YMCA youth sports.
The opportunity with Colorado Christian University was possible through a partnership with CCU Athletic Directors Brian Wall and Cassidy Burke, and CCU Alum and YMCA Senior Manager of Sports JC Watne. Through YMCA Youth Sports, young athletes grow in their skills and abilities and also build friendships and discover a sense of belonging on and off the field.
