Denver YMCA 150th Anniversary Celebrated with City and State Proclamations
The YMCA of Metro Denver’s 150th anniversary has sparked recognition at the highest levels, highlighting a legacy of impact that spans generations.
We extend our sincere thanks to U.S. Congresswoman Diana DeGette (D-CO) for honoring the Denver YMCA’s milestone on the floor of the United States Congress. This recognition reflects the Y’s enduring role in strengthening communities, supporting families and creating welcoming spaces where people of all ages and backgrounds can connect, belong and thrive.
“The YMCA of Metro Denver has been woven into the fabric of our community for 150 years,” DeGette said. “As we celebrate this remarkable anniversary, we honor its proud history and its bright future, one where the YMCA will continue to uplift, empower and strengthen our community for generations to come.”
The celebration continued locally, as Mike Johnston officially proclaimed December 30, 2025, as “YMCA of Metro Denver 150th Anniversary Day” in Denver.
“The YMCA of Metro Denver has for 150 years been a trusted community partner, dedicated to improving the health and well-being of generations of Denver residents,” the proclamation states.
These honors underscore the lasting impact of the Y’s mission and reaffirm our commitment to meeting the evolving needs of our community — today and for generations to come.
As we celebrate this milestone, we remain focused on the future, continuing to build a stronger, healthier and more connected community for all. Learn more about our 150th Anniversary.
