Volunteer Opportunities

The YMCA of Metropolitan Denver depends on the generosity and dedication of their members to meet the unique needs of each community. The YMCA relies on hundreds of volunteers each year to build strong kids, strong families and strong communities. Volunteers help us to set policies, raise funds for scholarship assistance, and lead programs that have direct contact with YMCA members and their families.

There are 5 types of YMCA Volunteers:
Policy: serve on YMCA boards and committees, and act as trustees
Program: provide services and assist in YMCA programs; coach youth sports teams
Fundraising: provide leadership and legwork for successful fundraising
Special Events: provide a helping hand during a variety of special events throughout the year
Support: provide office and facility support

Why Volunteer?
Volunteering with the YMCA not only can greatly improve the lives of children, families and seniors and make our community stronger, but it can also greatly impact your life. Volunteers have the opportunity to:
-explore personal interest and passions
-attend trainings to broaden personal and professional skills
-develop leadership skills
- include experience on resumes or fulfill service requirements
-develop new relationships and make friends
-learn, grow and HAVE FUN!

Here are some specific ways your volunteering can make a difference at your YMCA:
Special events, pancake breakfast, fitness instructor, golf tournament, youth sports coach, board of advisors, international committees, family events, kids night out!!

Both teen and adult volunteers are valued, and welcomed, at the YMCA. Volunteering is one way for teens to become engaged and achieve their high school volunteer hours. All volunteers are subject to a background check. Minimum age for volunteers is 14 years.

To become a volunteer with the YMCA please complete the application below. All of our volunteers complete a full background and reference check.

The YMCA greatly values our volunteers and the gift of their time to our programs and participants. As with all YMCA programs, the safety of the children and participants is paramount, and to help protect our participants the YMCA conducts a criminal background check on all staff and volunteers that work in our programs. This background check does not include a check of people’s credit history. It does include a check of criminal records in the State of Colorado and across the United States.
